Thimble Slide Inventor:
Cole Coleman

I was onstage one night playing the opening of a song with a featured slide melody using the standard full-length slide and I was thinking "This thing is too big and clumsy; I only need about an inch of it." Years went by and as I traveled - I stopped at guitar shops to see if they might have something like this; none did. Then, came a day I was recording for Tony Kaye of Yes fame and he wanted a slide solo in a song and wondered how I would do it live; if I would stop, pick up a slide for the solo, then throw it off when done. So, it was time for my idea. The next day I went down to Melrose Ave in Hollywood and bought the largest biker-type jewelry I could find and began to craft it with a hacksaw until I found a rough shape that would work as a slide. This was the first Thimble Slide prototype.

For Guitar Players
-- Cole Coleman; Inventor. "The Thimble Slide is a mini guitar slide designed to be worn on the tip of your 3rd finger, with the front edge about halfway down the fingernail toward the base. Worn there - ALL your fingers are now free for fretting! You can still bend your knuckle; and it's angled front allows enough fingertip through so you can still press the strings."
